Intro
The Embraer Innovation Center is a cutting-edge design and innovation space that leverages commercial-grade mixed reality headsets from Canon to enhance the design process and facilitate the review of CAD engineering data. With a focus on aircraft interiors, the center provides a unique and immersive environment that enables designers and engineers to visualize their creations in stunning detail. As a consultant on the project, my role was to identify and develop use cases for the mixed reality technology, as well as to oversee the installation and configuration of the equipment. By utilizing the latest in mixed reality technology, the Embraer Innovation Center represents a bold new approach to design and engineering that promises to revolutionize the way we create and build complex products.

MY ROLE

As a visualization consultant, my primary responsibility was to explore and understand potential use cases that would provide value to our clients. I worked closely with the aviation industry experts to identify their specific needs and challenges. Utilizing my expertise in mixed reality (MR) technology, I created prototypes to demonstrate the potential applications and benefits. I coordinated the installation process and conducted comprehensive training sessions to educate our customers on how to leverage the MR technology effectively in their day-to-day operations. Through my contributions, we were able to empower aviation professionals with advanced visualization tools, enhancing their efficiency, accuracy, and overall productivity.

PRODUCT

The Embraer-Canon MREAL partnership in Melbourne, Florida, is a collaborative effort between two industry leaders to develop advanced augmented reality (AR) solutions for aviation. By combining Embraer's expertise in aircraft manufacturing and Canon's cutting-edge MREAL AR technology, the partnership aims to enhance training, maintenance, and design processes in the aviation industry. This collaboration focuses on two major use cases. Firstly, it enables pre-visualization of aircraft interiors, allowing designers to simulate and evaluate elements such as leather colors and material types, including options like marble or wood. Secondly, the partnership facilitates the review of engineering CAD data, identifying errors such as misalignments before parts go into production, thereby preventing costly mistakes. These innovative AR applications enhance efficiency, accuracy, and cost savings throughout the aircraft manufacturing process.
